March 22, 2022

Silver Spring, MD – Democratic candidate for Maryland governor and former U.S. Labor Secretary Tom Perez today launched his first television advertisement which will air statewide beginning tomorrow, Thursday, March 24.

The first spot from the Perez-Sneed campaign highlights Perez’s compelling personal story and record of getting things done as U.S. Labor Secretary under Former President Barack Obama.

“I am thrilled to continue sharing my story with Marylanders. I’ve proudly dedicated my entire life to public service, fighting for jobs, justice, and opportunity here in Maryland and throughout our country — and I have the record to prove it,” Perez said. “Whether on the Montgomery County Council, as Maryland’s Labor Secretary, or as U.S. Labor Secretary under President Barack Obama, I’ve taken on —and won — big fights for working families and I’ll continue that fight for Marylanders as governor.”

The new :30-second spot entitled “Tireless,” features archival clips from President Barack Obama recounting Tom Perez’s background as “the son of immigrants” who “worked on the back of at trash truck to help pay for college,” and citing Perez’s work at the federal, state, and local levels noting that "as Secretary of Maryland’s Department of Labor, he helped implement the country's first statewide living wage law.”
