The new :30-second spot entitled “GSD,” highlights Perez’s unparalleled record of accomplishment as a civil rights attorney and Maryland’s Labor Secretary and outlines his plans to support everyday Marylanders by lowering the cost of prescription drugs, doubling the earned income tax credit, and amending the state’s Constitution to guarantee access to abortion.
“I am thrilled to continue sharing my story with Marylanders. I’ve dedicated my life to public service, fighting for jobs, justice, and opportunity here in Maryland and throughout our country — and I have the record to prove it,” Perez said. “I’m a proud member of the “GSD” wing of the Democratic Party: I want to get stuff done. That’s exactly what I have done throughout my career — and exactly what I’ll do as governor.”
This new ad is the latest effort demonstrating the Perez-Sneed campaign’s continued momentum.
A recent poll by The Baltimore Sun and the University of Baltimore shows Perez in a statistical tie for second place and continues to gain momentum, showing “signs of strength,” over top opponents with just over 30 days until the July 19th Democratic primary election.
In recent weeks, Perez earned The Washington Post’s endorsement, which called Tom the clear choice who would "make an outstanding governor” as well as recent endorsements from the Maryland State and D.C. AFL-CIO, the state’s largest federation of unions which represents over 700 union locals, and Progressive Maryland, a statewide advocacy organization with over 120,000 members, supporters, and affiliates statewide.
These organizations are the latest to join a diverse and rapidly growing coalition who has endorsed the Perez-Sneed campaign, including national, state, and local officials, like Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi; Former President of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards; State Senator Joanne C. Benson, Prince George’s County; State Senator Cory McCray, Baltimore City; State Delegate Luke Clippinger, Baltimore City; State Delegate Bonnie Cullison, Montgomery County; Delegate Anne Healey, Prince George's County, Delegate Carl Jackson, Baltimore County; Delegate Mary Lehman, Prince George's County; Delegate Robbyn Lewis, Baltimore City; Delegate Lesley Lopez, Montgomery County; Delegate Julie Palakovich Carr, Montgomery County; Delegate Shane Pendergrass, Howard County; Delegate Kirill Reznik, Montgomery County; Delegate Dana Stein, Baltimore County; Delegate Vaughn Stewart, Montgomery County; Delegate Veronica Turner, Prince George's County; Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Charles County Commissioner President Reuben Collins; College Park Mayor Patrick Wojahn; Mount Rainier Mayor Celina Benitez; Baltimore City Councilmember Kristerfer Burnett; Baltimore City Councilmember Ryan Dorsey; Baltimore City Councilmember Danielle McCray; Hyattsville Councilmember Rommel Sandino; Former State Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Matthews; Former Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, and more.
